A little bit about Kyklos Greek Cafe

Kyklos Greek Cafe was founded in 2002. Acclaimed by the media, Kyklos Greek Cafe features authentic dishes conceived and developed by the three Frangakis brothers -  Sophocles, Constantine, and Ioannis.

           
Why is it that when someone has a hard time understanding something, they sometimes, say “that looks Greek to me?”

Well, if you’re like the average person, you’ve probably never actually tried authentic Greek food. So technically you could say “this food looks Greek to me” and you’d be correct on every level.

But you’ve gotta try this food! I’m talking about food where the main ingredient truly is LOVE!

           

It’s an exotic blend of mouth watering flavors that must be tried to understand how delicious it is!

Once you’ve tried it, your taste buds will be in absolute bliss and your stomach will finally be satisfied. Then you can truly say,

“this TASTES Greek to me!”

The "Kyklos Brothers" were born in Montreal, Canada, of parents Christos and Anastasia, immigrants from Greece. 

Soon after, desiring to live in America, the family moved to Chicago, Illinois where all became naturalized citizens of this great nation of ours.

Not long after this, the family moved to Houston, Texas, where a promising business opportunity presented itself.  However, the year was 1980 and the Oil Industry went through a turbulent down period soon after the Frangakis Family arrived in Houston. 

The economic well being of the city was tied very closely with the Oil Industry and with the downturn the city was thrown into a deep recession. 

After five years in Houston, circumstances necessitated a new beginning for the family.  Las Vegas at this time drew many to itself with the promise of a new beginning.  The family put down roots there and ever since 1985, this has been home. 

All three of the "Kyklos Brothers" have a solid background in the Food and Beverage Industry through not only their studies, but as well through personal experience.

Sophocles began at a local restaurant in the kitchen as a dishwasher.  Soon after this, he began a long work career at Casesar's Palace which culminated with his postion as Assistant Sommelier in one of the city's, at that time, few Four Star restaurants, the Palace Court.

He left Caesar's Palace for Andre's French Restaurant at the Monte Carlo where he took on the position there of Assistant Maitre'd.  After several years with Andre's,  Sophocles came to work at the Galleria Mall in the place he has been since 2000.  At that time, the restaurant was called the Honey Tree.  Sophocles apprenticed under the owners of the Honey Tree for approximately two years.

After this two year period, he and his two brothers purchased The Honey Tree and soon after created Kyklos Greek Cafe. 

At present, Sophocles attends St. Paul the Apostle Orthodox Church.  He reckons his struggle to live a spiritual life as his greatest challenge.
                                                                                                                          
Constantine  started his restaurant career as a busboy in a local restaurant called the Sandpiper, and then moved on to bus tables at another place called Sadies. He then took his bussing skills to the fine dining restaurants of the Las Vegas Hilton where he bussed tables at Andiamo Italian restaurant, he bussed at The Barronshire Prime Rib Restaurant, and finally, he bussed tables at Le Montrechet, the French restaurant. In 1994 Constantine hung up his bussing apron and embarked on a new career with the opening of the MGM Grand, where he worked as an apprentice-butler serving the high-end guests of the top suites of the hotel. He eventually became a butler and during this time graduated from UNLV with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Shortly after, he was promoted to butler-supervisor and finally moved to the Mansion at the MGM where he was an assistant manager of the Butler Department. In 2001, upon opening of the new Aladdin, Constantine moved there to head up the Butler Department. And finally, in 2002, he decided to leave the strip and enter into business with brothers Sophocles and Ioannis at Kyklos Greek Cafe at the Galleria Mall, where he has continued to this very day.
